2012 field of 64 the youngest and defensively stingiest in the 64- team era:

After the Infernal Four games were complete last night, I was finally able to calculate the cumulative stats of the 64- team tourney field. This year’s squads have the youngest starters, score the lowest amount of points and are the stingiest defensively in the modern ... more »

Where's that one guy who was saying Wichita St would win and that NMSU would beat IU?

VCU/ Indy will be an interesting game. Against the press, do you the Hoosiers will miss their guard?

Not really. What people fail to mention is that VJ3 is notorious for turning the ball over. Don't get me wrong; he's a great guy and I love him, but all year (minus a few games where he uncharacteristically stepped up) he hasn't really done much for the team besides turnover the ball. We have played a few games without him and were ... more »

Good call. B10 gets no respect, ever. IU is the 4th team in 10 years to beat three top five teams in a year and the 7th (or 6th...can't remember which) in 10 years to beat the AP #1 and #2 in a season. Yet all people wanna do is keep saying how we are weak and how we can get upset. Haven't heard one talking head in the media give us ... more »

I loved New Mexico State...until I saw the first round match- up. Didn't think they could take out IU...and they didn't. Not sure who wins a VCU- IU game. Should be a very interesting game. I liked Wichita State a lot. Looks like I shouldn't have.

That quadrant was one of my "quandary quadrants." Before last night, I was thinking that anyone might emerge. Part of the problem for me in assessing the B10 is that I see all the teams play live...and they can play "mudfight" games that have me questioning their quality. Familiarity breeds contempt. That's why, as the models ... more »

Pete, how bad does FSU have you sweating right now. As I type, there is 13:48 left and they are down 6 . . . i hope the Bonnies win because someone needs to get rid of all this chalk

How bad am I sweating now? FSU was one of those teams I thought could reach the F4. And at the moment, NC is struggling with Vermont and Mizzou is having trouble with Norfolk State. Whoa.

Ouch. At first I wondered why Hamilton didn't call a timeout. But it was smart, because it didn't give the Bonnies a chance to regroup. And their inexperience was their undoing. Either that, or it's an Auburn- like fix. :- )

Mizzou, what is going on? Norfolk State is probably the second worst team in the tournament . . . did anyone honestly pick Norfolk State? 3 minutes left, up 4

Biggest first round upset ever? Interesting debate, Missouri arguably was a possible 1 seed, Norfolk State probably should have been a 16 seed. Unbelievable

I should update my Top Ten Upsets article. I would put the game at least at #3. One of the reasons I favor the later round upsets is because the favorites had already demonstrated their quality. Missouri's weaknesses showed up in the first round of the dance. Even if they'd gotten past the NSU Spartans, they looked like they were ripe to be beat by someone.
