ughhh I know. I love the numbers but my head is telling me I should take Mizzou too cuz they have been farrrr more consistent than Florida. I know Fla has the "potentia;" but that could also mean an egg vs Virginia. Man what a tourney it should be

Yeah, that's the trouble with the hard and fast rules. In one model, Kansas downed MSU because of one measly tenth of a margin point. But the rules are the rules and I'm obligated to follow them in the models. That doesn't mean I have to follow them in my keeper bracket!

Pete...You do the heavy lifting and the rest of us will follow.
The posts are interesting but that is only their takes on the match- ups....what do you see?

Let us know what you think about the sleepers to keep an eye on and the teams that have the "mojo" to win it all?

What do you think about Ohio State being .2 points per game to having ONLY 2 disqualifiers? Strong #2 just like Kansas!

check that Florida gets about 33% from the frontcourt so they fulfill everything! and Mizzou doesnt...might have to go gators

haha well we appreciate it. We're seed guide freaks lol...struggling with what to do with Mizzou...check out my analysis a few comments below with the numbers on Fla vs Mizzou in the 2nd round. Do you think thats enough to pull the trigger? If you have the time I'd appreciate it

Man...47 comments! Nice conversation going. Bamilus - I try not to use my own discretion, but the rules don't often contemplate every future scenario. (Plus, there are those nagging mistakes I sometimes make.) My biggest problem is trying to get the 12 models out in about 32 hours. It's gotten a little overwhelming. Maybe I should ... more »

Valid points.

I guess I am being cautious because I want to see Iona beat BYU first before I set up my entire bracket around an Iona Marquette upset. Gotta have contingencies, just like the selection committee.

Memphis Mich St really got me intrigued...Im gonna keep sleeping on that one. Florida Missouri also intriguing.

Anyways ... more »

definitely...they should throw it in to patrick young more and here are the numbers!........Florida comes soooo close to satisfying all the 7 over 2 criteria...2- 8 straight tourney trips..not a snakebitten coach..scoring margin of more than 6 but they get like a percent under 25 % from the frontcourt...does it really matter if its 24? and Mizzou ... more »

Bamilus,

I agree with everything you say. You are just like me a bracket junkie.

I have to disagree with you on Iona I think they roll BYU and marquette hates to be pressed.

here are a couple of thing to chew on.

New mexico st wins
If Liu brooklyn doesn't get Mich st
Memphis will
watch out for florida over missouri

Yea Im in the same boat. Missou looks to me like either one of the best teams out there or one of the most overrated, depending on how you cut it. I lean more towards the latter but I wouldn't be surprised if they make it to the F4

Florida kinda lives and dies by the three. But they are a team that always seems to get to the Sweet 16. Might not get much farther than that, but I think they can be dangerous. Dunno if it's worth the risk though.

K State satisfies all 8 seed over 1 criteria and Syracuse barely meets teh criteria. Theyre margin of victory is about a point over 13.3 otherwise they would fit the victim bill...hmmmm

Not specifically, but I think Purdue/ Florida deserve a second look. I think they might be undervalued.

Did you run any seed guides that had a 6 or 7 far or 11 or 12? I feel that could definitely happen

and I might go with Marquette too. I live 10 mins from Milwaukee so a lot of ppl will have Marquette so I'll gain or lose with everyone on that matchup

definitely hear ya on K State. Frank gets the boys to play hard. It doesnt make sense tho liek you said b/ c no one else in your pool will have that so might as well lose pts with everyone if it doesn't happen. (learning from my wofford over BYU pick last year)

Agreed!! I had to restrain myself from not picking Kansas St over Syracuse. I think KSU is by far the best 8/ 9 seed and Syracuse is the weakest one seed. I didn't make the pick because I have Ohio State beating either of them and even though KSU can spring the upset it's still usually best to still pick the one seed over the 8/ 9 ... more »

Hey you guys are you noticing any glaring traits in 2 vs 3 seed guides in the sweet 16?? alwayssss a brutal pick..or a potential fatal flaw(s) in a 1 seed vs a 4 lets say? I think Syracuse is WEAK

I've noticed over the years that my personal excel research based on Pete's guide's doesn't always match up with the final results that he puts up for his models. I think he uses a bit of discretion in every model. Which is fine and I think that is how it should be, but I think it should be noted that discretion is used so it doesn't confuse others into thinking they messed up calculations.
