Purdue and North Carolina fall off the latest champ list:

Based on yesterday’s AP Top 25, only eight teams have the six basic credentials that 17 of the last 19 champions have possessed:

1) They came from a Power conference (ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC or Pac 10)

As always, good stuff. I know I asked this last year, but is there any chance you will start looking at efficiency/points per possession as a tool in the future? Each additional year adds more data points.

I, for example, looked at statsheet.com, which has team data going back to 1997. Every national champion had at least an efficiency ... more »

I write an article on efficiency ratings (Pythag, Off and Def Eff) every year. There's some analysis in the contenders/pretenders article. One thing to be careful about with the possession- based stats on statsheet.com. Make sure they're from BEFORE the tourney started. If they're after, of course they'll skew more toward ... more »
