pmhull - See the diamond in the middle of the top right quadrant, all by itself? That's 2008...the second highest overall quality of the one to four seeds, but weak parity- - fourth weakest of all time. It explains why the four one seeds made the Final Four.

I don't go by the BCS designation. For me, it's the Power conferences- - ACC, BE, B10, B12, SEC and P10. That's what all my data on conference types is predicated on. I do separate Mid- Majors from Smalls. See the conference article for an explanation.

In 2003 tourney there were 2 non- BCS sweet 16 teams, in 2005 there were also 2.

2003: Butler, Marquette
2005: Wisconsin - Milwaukee, Utah.

Non- BCS does not include Memphis under Calapari btw...

PS I did a study of Sweet 16's, looking at non- BCS teams going back to 1991...
