Our official site opening for the 2010- 11 season is December 1, but there's already plenty of new material for you to dig into. The Bracketmaster has been updated with last year's results and reflects the new PASE values. All the coach, team and conference ratings are ready too, presented this year in more bite- sizable articles. I also just finished the Madometer tourney predictability breakdown. And I've taken the first look at this year's potential champs. Some of the teams will surprise you.

Considering that your bracket pondering time will be compressed to a 48- hour cycle this year (check out the previous blog entry), I've decided to make bracketscience.com information more quickly consummable. What does that mean for the content of the site? First and foremost, it means that I'll invest more time doing regular "pulse checks" of the potential tourney advancers, so you get an earlier sense of which teams are frontrunners, which are contenders, which are pretenders and which have Butleresque darkhorse potential.

I've decided that the best forum for this ongoing analysis will be the blog. In the past, I did individual previews of the top 100 teams at the beginning of the season. But those previews were extremely time- consuming, didn't reflect in- season performance, and really didn't generate the sort of interactive dialogue I anticipated. So I'm going to roll all of that commentary into the blog and use the time I gain for more "actionable" analysis.

With the new 68- team format, things are going to be very different this season, as you may have already read in the last blog entry. I'm open to your suggestions on how I might make the site more attuned to the changing nature of the dance. Feel free to add a comment here or drop me an email.
